SUMMARY:CME: “The Opioid Epidemic: Implications in Managing Care.” and “The Emergence of Cannabis as Medicine.”
DESCRIPTION:Join us starting at 5:30pm for an informal reception before the CME.  Sip wine and beer and nosh on appetizers while visiting with your colleagues and fellow members.  Dinner will be provided by MedPro. \nTopics Include: \n“The Opioid Epidemic: Implications in Managing Care.” \n\nAs an opioid epidemic sweeps the nation\, providers face the challenge of determining appropriate treatment options that meet their patients’ needs and align with nationally published guidelines. This program addresses these challenges and offers strategies for reducing the risk of opioid misuse in your patient population.\n\nThis CME also includes a Non-CME talk: “The Emergence of Cannabis as Medicine.” \n\nAs marijuana has been legalized by numerous states\, access has become more mainstream. This session will provide a brief overview of the history of marijuana prohibition\, discuss the endocannabinoid system and the use of cannabinoids therapeutically\, review some of the available evidence around effectiveness of medicinal cannabis and close with a review of the medical-legal issues related to Washington State laws and practice act.\n\nIt is a Category 1 CME credit for 2 hours.
