Donations made to the KCMS Community Foundation can be directed to the Underrepresented in Medicine Scholars Award (URiM)
The King County Medical Society Community Foundation (KCMS-CF), a 501(c)3 entity, offers scholarships to support URiM* medical students. The KCMS-CF acknowledges the historical and enduring effects of racism on Black and Indigenous people and other People of Color in our society. We acknowledge the unique structural challenges that URiM students face during medical training and throughout their careers. The KCMS-CF believes that diversity and inclusion in medicine remain critical to our nation’s much-needed efforts to promote health equity to create better health and security for all.
The KCMS-CF Scholarship Committee, working with the UW, PNWU-HS, and WSU, medical schools, will review student applications and consider factors including financial need, personal statement, academic achievement, community, public service, and interest in public health or health disparities work to identify one candidate per school per year to receive a scholarship from the KCMS-CF.
