Join us starting at 5:30pm for an informal reception before the CME.  Sip wine and beer and nosh on appetizers while visiting with your colleagues and fellow members.  Dinner will be provided by MedPro.

Topics Include:

“The Opioid Epidemic: Implications in Managing Care.”

  • As an opioid epidemic sweeps the nation, providers face the challenge of determining appropriate treatment options that meet their patients’ needs and align with nationally published guidelines. This program addresses these challenges and offers strategies for reducing the risk of opioid misuse in your patient population.

This CME also includes a Non-CME talk: “The Emergence of Cannabis as Medicine.”

  • As marijuana has been legalized by numerous states, access has become more mainstream. This session will provide a brief overview of the history of marijuana prohibition, discuss the endocannabinoid system and the use of cannabinoids therapeutically, review some of the available evidence around effectiveness of medicinal cannabis and close with a review of the medical-legal issues related to Washington State laws and practice act.

It is a Category 1 CME credit for 2 hours. For MedPro insureds it also qualifies them for the premium credit

We are pleased to announce the addition of  Dr. Alden Roberts, MD, Chair of the Washington Medical Commission and Melanie de Leon, JD, MPA, Executive Director of the Washington Medical Commission, to our upcoming CME on opioids.  They will be discussing the new opioid prescribing rules and regulations taking effect January 1, 2019.
