Medical Education Grant Program

Supporting the next generation of physicians in Washington State.

The King County Medical Society Community Foundation (KCMS-CF) provides financial support to medical students during critical stages of training, helping reduce barriers and strengthen the future physician workforce serving our region.

Application Cycle: April 1 to May 31
Serving Students At: UW, WSU, and PNWU

Program Purpose

The Medical Education Grant Program supports students who demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, community service, and improving access to healthcare.

Eligibility

  • Full-time students in accredited Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) programs in Washington State
  • Programs accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA)

Selection Criteria

  • Commitment to patient care and community engagement
  • Leadership in healthcare, public health, or service
  • Academic achievement and overall strength of application

Support the Program

The Medical Education Grant Program is supported through philanthropic contributions and grant funding from aligned partners.

Contributions help expand the number of students served and sustain the program’s long-term impact.

Named Grants

KCMS-CF works with donors and partners to establish named or endowed funds that support medical education.

  • Donors may define the focus or intent of the fund
  • KCMS-CF administers the application and selection process
  • Contributors receive updates on recipients and program impact

Application Information

The Medical Education Grant application cycle opens April 1 and closes May 31 each year.

Eligible students are encouraged to apply during this period. Applications submitted outside the cycle will not be considered.
