Join the Washington Health Alliance on May 27 at 3pm for the installment in the All-Alliance webinar series for the first of a two-part discussion on the impact of COVID-19, “Seeing the Future Through a New Lens.”

The first installment of this two-part series will explore the many changes taking place across the care delivery spectrum amid the pandemic with a particular focus on how we are continuing to meet patient’s non-COVID related care needs and what that means for the future. Part two of this series, will focus on what COVID-19 means to the future of health care cost from a variety of perspectives.

Joining us for this webinar are:

  • Sue Birch, Director of the Washington State Health Care Authority since Governor Jay Inslee’s appointment on January 1, 2018. Sue is focused on transforming the health care delivery system to better serve those for whom we purchase care, while keeping health care costs in check.
  • Dr. Peter Rutherford, an Internal Medicine specialist in Wenatchee, Washington and Chief Executive Officer at Confluence Health, an integrated healthcare delivery system that includes two hospitals, more than 40 medical specialties and primary care, providing comprehensive medical care throughout North Central Washington.
  • Joe Piper, Managing Director of Point B Capital, with experience in venture capital and real estate financing and development for the past 35 years. Joe co-founded Integra Ventures, a life science venture capital fund and Diversified Health Services, an outsourcing healthcare services company.

This distinguished panel will be moderated by Karen Johnson, the Alliance’s new Director of Performance Improvement and Innovation. Karen has worked with employers, health plans, providers, and health systems and most recently was Vice President of Healthcare Insights and Partnerships at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City where she used multiple strategic initiatives to drive innovative health care solutions in the Kansas City market. Karen believes in the power of “coloring outside the lines and forging unexpected alliances with a singular mission in mind – to make health care work better for more people at a cost they can afford.”
